TEACHING
TRANSFER
In July 2011, the European Union awarded for the first time a Jean Monnet Chair to the University of Murcia, specifically to the Faculty of Philosophy. This chair -one out of only two awarded this year to Spanish universities - , had as its core aim the research of the process of European integration. To this end, the project developed its main activities in Spain, Switzerland and Denmark, at the level of both taught courses and research and transfer of scientific outcomes. The project ended in September 2014.
Within this framework, seminars and lecture courses had been organised, in which renowned European scientists participated. Among the issues discussed we can highlight the influence of the EU on everyday life, social and economic integration, European identities, migrations, and the shifts in political and symbolic boundaries. Furthermore, a substantial body of published work was generated (books, web pages, etc.) and even the creation of a Centre for European Studies (www.ceeum.es) was carried out.
Members of the project include Klaus Schriewer (chairholder), Salvador Cayuela (appointed researcher), Antonio Campillo Meseguer, Giovanni Ercolani, Alfonso GarcĂa Marques, Gabriel Lopez Martinez, Pedro Angel Rubio Lara and Pedro Vicente Martinez (researchers).
